“Seven Sisters” is the nickname for the seven contiguous states of Northeast India: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. Sikkim, which joined the North Eastern Council in 2002, is lovingly called the brother. Together they are home to hundreds of communities and languages, and share borders with China, Bhutan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Nepal.
