We are hiring interns to help us tell the Northeast’s stories properly. Students, recent graduates and career-switchers are all welcome. You do not need to be from the region, but you do need to care about it.
Open roles
Editorial intern
Research, report and write stories on life, people, culture, food, arts, events and travel across the eight states.
Social media & reels intern
Script, shoot and edit short videos for Instagram. Bonus points for knowing what is trending in Shillong this week.
Photography intern
Capture festivals, food, places and portraits, always with consent and respect.
Design intern
Make carousels, story graphics and visual explainers that look as good as the region does.
Who we are looking for
- Curious, reliable and kind to the people you interview.
- Good with words, a camera or a design tool (ideally more than one).
- Knowledge of a Northeast language is a big plus.
- Comfortable working remotely or from our Shillong office.
How to apply
Email contact@lifeinnortheast.com with the subject line Internship Application: [Role], and include:
- Your CV.
- Two samples of your work (articles, reels, photos or designs) or your Instagram handle.
- A short pitch, under 150 words, for one story about the Northeast you would love to tell.
We read every application. Khublei for thinking of us.
